Nestled in the serene landscape of Akalaia-Kalaigobindopur lies a remarkable symbol of heritage and resilience: the Sikder Bari. This historic homestead, with a lineage stretching over 400 years, stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of Sheikh Ashraf and his descendants, whose journey began in a distant land but found purpose and permanence in this very soil. The story begins in 1050 Bangla Sal (circa 1643 AD) with Sheikh Ashraf, a devout and visionary man who migrated to the region that is now Akalaia-Kalaigobindopur. In pursuit of a righteous path, Sheikh Ashraf and his companions chose this tranquil land as their new home. With deep faith and conviction, they not only built a household, but also laid the spiritual and cultural foundation that would shape the community for generations.

By the third generation, during the British colonial period, the family was honored with the title "Sikder" a designation that acknowledged their leadership, land stewardship, and social influence in the area. From the humble steps of Sheikh Ashraf to the present day, the Sikder family has spanned more than eleven generations. Each generation has carried forward this legacy, not only preserving the land and traditions but also adapting to changing times while staying true to their core values.
